New Orleans, a lovely multi cultural and multi faceted city. So many colors, flavors, different kinds of music. Just immerse yourself in the wonder world called New Orleans. Browse around in the French Quarter (try and find Doreen on her clarinet playing music, or give it a go yourself at the karaoke bar Cats Meow), maybe even go on a Haunted or Jazz Tour (try to go with Creole Quinn, she’s adorable!).

A city tour also shows you a lot of the city, and more than
just the French Quarter. Take the cable car on St Charles and see
some of the lovely Victorian houses along this street. Do some second
hand shopping (sorry: vintage shopping) on Magazine Street. Go for a
walk at Audabon City Park. Have some delicious beignets at Café du
Monde or get some fresh food at the Fresh Market / French Market.
Mardi Gras is of course lots of crazy fun, so try and go around this
time, but don’t worry, there are also lots of other parades happening
between January 6th
and April. Always a reason to dress fancy / crazy / tacky. Throw on
that feather boa and crazy rose colored glasses, and immerse yourself
in the crazy world of New Orleans.
Eat some local creole meals like gumbo, crawfish and poboy’s. Eat some great Mexican food at Arana on Magazine St. Vincent’s, an Italian restaurant (address?) has very tasty bread sticks and garlic butter as an appetizer, and have the stuffed milliton’s for dinner. Café Dauphine has great traditional food and ask Keisha for the Floodwater-cocktail, yummie! You’ll love New Orleans, but most of all, its people. Do as I did, just make some great friends for life here, and you’ll come back again and again!
Natchitoches (not pronounced like you think it would, naked tushy? No, it’s Nakatish), town of Steel Magnolia’s, Kisatchi National Forest nearby
